Ololepo Community Conservancy Agreement Signing

Restoring Land. Empowering People. Building a Sustainable Future.

The signing ceremony, held at Ololepo Church on October 28, 2025, brought together community leaders, elders, and religious representatives to celebrate a shared vision a future where healthy soils and thriving communities go hand in hand.

At the heart of this partnership is the implementation of Rapid Rotational Grazing (RRG), a proven approach to restore degraded lands, increase grass cover, and enhance soil carbon storage. By managing livestock movement strategically, the Ololepo community will not only regenerate their grazing lands but also unlock direct economic rewards through the Kajiado Rangelands Carbon Project (KRCP).

Under this initiative, communities practicing RRG receive a $2 per hectare carbon incentive, which increases over time as the land continues to recover and the community adheres to RRG procedures. This model ensures that benefits grow with performance, inspiring long-term commitment and ownership. It also guarantees that Soils for the Future Africa’s Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) process remains active and transparent even after agreements are signed securing the community’s voice in every stage of implementation.

Speaking during the event, community leaders expressed confidence that RRG will revive grazing ecosystems, stabilize livestock productivity, and open new livelihood opportunities through sustainable carbon financing. SftFA representatives reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing training, technical support, and fair benefit-sharing, ensuring the Ololepo community remains at the center of this journey.

The day ended with traditional blessings, prayers, and songs of unity, symbolizing the community’s faith in the power of collective action. The Ololepo story now stands as an inspiring example  showing how indigenous knowledge, modern science, and shared purpose can heal the land while building prosperity for generations to come.

The Ololepo Community Conservancy has taken a bold step toward transforming its rangelands and livelihoods through the official signing of its management and partnership agreement with Soils for the Future Africa (SftFA).
