Empowering Women to Restore Grazing Lands in Kisapuk Conservancy
Soils for the Future Africa (SftFA) continues to champion community-led land restoration efforts across Kajiado County. In a recent milestone, SftFA proudly supported the women of Kisapuk Conservancy in Kajiado Central in their ongoing fight against the invasive Ipomea weed, which has severely impacted pasture availability on local grazing lands.
To recognize and incentivize their critical work, SftFA—through its Finance and Compliance Manager—presented a KSh. 500,000 donation to the women's group. This gesture marked a moment of celebration and empowerment for the women, who have taken a leading role in restoring rangeland health.
The women expressed heartfelt gratitude to SftFA and committed to continuing their efforts to eradicate Ipomea, thereby enhancing pasture regeneration and supporting the broader goals of climate resilience and food security in the region.
In addition to weed eradication, the women reaffirmed their support for Rapid Rotational Grazing (RRG)—a sustainable grazing model that not only improves pasture quality but also boosts carbon sequestration, contributing to the generation of carbon credits that benefit the entire community.
This initiative reflects SftFA’s deep commitment to inclusive, grassroots-driven solutions that protect the environment, empower communities, and build a sustainable future—one hectare at a time.
