About Us

Soils For The Future Africa(SftFA)

SftFA is a Kenyan-registered company dedicated to developing, managing, and implementing soil carbon projects through the restoration of degraded rangelands across East Africa. To advance this mission, SftFA has partnered with Carbon Solve LLC and the Biodiversity Research Institute (BRI) to jointly develop the Kajiado Rangelands Carbon Project (KRCP), located in Kajiado County.

Our mission is rooted in nature-based solutions, supporting pastoral communities to improve grazing and fire management practices, increase soil carbon storage, and build climate resilience. Through a sustainable carbon financing model, we turn restored soil into carbon credits—creating long-term economic benefits for local communities while reversing land degradation and fighting climate change.

with pastoralists

Our Vision

We envision a resilient future where Kenya’s rangelands are restored and thriving, supporting both nature and the people who depend on it. We work hand-in-hand with pastoralists to improve land management, increase soil carbon, and unlock carbon financing that benefits local communities.

Our Model

By enhancing rotational grazing and fire management, we boost soil carbon—a key player in climate resilience. This carbon is transformed into tradable carbon credits, which provide sustainable funding to support ongoing restoration efforts and community development.

Our Approach

We collaborate directly with pastoral communities—empowering them to lead land restoration efforts through traditional and science-backed practices. Our projects are designed to preserve cultural identity while improving ecological and economic outcomes.
